Oodles of Noodles

Roof roof!

Well, friends, it has been awhile since I have posted. A lot has been happening and I've been doing a lot of adjusting. "Times they are a changing"... at least that's what that invisible guy who lives in something called a radio said while Mom and I were driving to the foothills the other day. I don't know what it means, but it's stuck in my head.

Anywoof, I have some sad news. Last April, my best friend Chopstick started acting kind of funny. She just stared off into space. She didn't want to run and play like usual. She just stood there until she couldn't stand any more. Then she sat down until mom took her to see the vet.

I thought Chopstick would come home that day. I felt bad about chasing her so much, so I saves a little piece of my rawhide just for her! Well, I chewed on it a little, but she never seemed to mind my slobber. Anyways, the sad thing is that Chopstick didn't come home. Mom walked in the door and I looked and looked for Chopstick, but I couldn't find her. And mom was sad. Ming-ming and I even teamed up. We ran all over the house, sniffing all of Chopstick's favorite corners, running to her bed by the couch and investigating her favorite spot by the rosebushes. After a few days, it became obvious: Chopstick was never coming home.

Things are ok, I guess. We miss Chopstick a lot, but we are glad she went to someplace better. I heard Mom tell the Little People (some people call them "the kids" or "the girls". I like to call them "crazy sheep") that Chopstick was in heaven now, and she isn't so old any more. She can run and play, just like when she was a puppy! So I'm happy for Chopstick, and I can't wait to see her someday.

Ming-ming and I have formed a truce. Sometimes I get to sniff her if sometimes she can swat me on the nose. It only hurts a little. We have to stick together now, especially since...the new one.

Noodle. Noodle is the new pug my family got last month. At first, I thought it was Chopstick. Chopstick!!!? I thought. How did you shrink so much?!?!?!???? I was flabbergasted, but glad that Chopstick was home safely. However, I quickly learned that this dog was NOT Chopstick. Not. At. ALL.

First of all, Chopstick never jumped on my face. She never tried to play tug with my tail. And she certainly never WENT IN MY HOUSE. I'm not kidding. My house (or crate, cave, sanctuary--whatever you want to call it) is MY BUSINESS. And this new dog just SNARFLES on in next to me like she owns the place. Chopstick never would have done this. She respected the pack boundaries. But NOODLE (that's what the people call her) doesn't seem to understand that big dogs don't like little pups messing with their personal space. Maybe it's because she's a midget, I'm not sure. But it's annoying to say the least.

The other thing she does is chase Ming-ming. I mean, it's funny to mess with a cat, you know? I like it when she makes that hissing noise. I can appreciate it when she swats or meows or tries to hide under the table (HA! Found ya, Kitty!). But let me just set one thing straight: Serena was me and Chopstick's cat. We are the only ones who are allowed to bug her. And Noodle, once again, just doesn't understand.

I mean, it's not that I don't like the little midget. I chase her sometimes with my Kong toy, and that's fun. But she is just....underfoot!! Literally. I mean, she runs underneath me and I can't help but step on her. And then I get yelled at. Bow wow. I just can't win.

So you can see why I haven't written in awhile. My paws have been full with all these changes!

I'll keep you posted on what happens with this new dog, and everything else. Thanks for reading and see you next time!!

Hondo
